Who are VTCT? What is the VTCT Certificate?

VTCT are the UK’s biggest awarding body in hairdressing and barbering, our qualifications are the same as in many of the UK’s largest training centres and colleges.

The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering (QCF) is a vocational qualification that has been designed to develop a number of practical barbering skills to a high level of occupational ability. This course will prepare students to enter the men's hairdressing sector as a men’s hairdresser.

These models will stretch and challenge students to adapt their newly acquired barbering skills. We aim to teach everyone at their own skill level and focus on the individual needs of each student.

Who will I be on the course with?

Usually  there will be a mixture of beginners, intermediate and barbershop ready students. This will give all students the opportunity to watch and learn from each other and our course trainers. Underpinning this qualification students will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety whilst working in the barbering industry. Students will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

Who is the VTCT Level 2 Barbering Course Suitable For?

This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 years and over, entry onto this qualification Can be via previous achievement of a Level 2 qualification in women's hairdressing and/or a successful skills test and/or interview. This qualification includes the units to prepare students to work effectively as a junior men’s hairdresser, including: client consultation for hair services, cutting men's hair, cutting facial hair and following health and safety in the salon. This qualification will develop student’s knowledge, understanding and skills to enable them to advise and consult with men on the type of hair cut and facial hair shaping the way they want, but just as importantly what is suitable for them. Students will also learn how to work in a safe manner throughout the service protecting themselves and their clients.

What could this qualification lead to?

This qualification will prepare students for employment as a junior Men’s hairdresser. On completion of this qualification students will widen their career opportunities and be able to work as a self-employed/employed Barber in a verity of settings salon based/mobile. Whilst this qualification's primary purpose is to prepare students for employment as a men’s hairdresser, students may choose to develop their skill base further by undertaking specialist qualifications at Level 3.

How much does this course cost?

We are currently offering this course at the discounted rate £2000 per student rather than £2500 we would normally charge for a limited time only. The course is structured over a 12 to 20 week period in line with the awarding bodies (VTCT) guided learning hours depending on individual student ability and needs, if however students are unable to complete the course within in this time frame and have insufficient evidence in order to satisfy our awarding boding for certification them Finnegan’s may grant an extension which We reserve to right to charge additions fees.

Payment for the course can be made by cash, card or cheque and must be paid prior to commencement of the course however. We are able to offer students the choice to the pay for the course in monthly installments with a deposit of £500 being payable on enrolment and then payments at an agreed rate monthly thereafter.
